# Installing Clumps in a Forge Profile

## Begin with a working instance

Use a Forge profile that already launches correctly. Record the Minecraft and Forge versions and identify the profile's game directory. A launcher can manage several separate instances, each with its own mods folder and settings.

## Check the download carefully

Select a Clumps file whose official details name your Minecraft version and Forge. Read any installation notes before moving files. Close the game, copy the jar into the correct mods folder and make sure an older Clumps jar is not still active beside it.

## Test one change at a time

Launch the profile without changing unrelated mods at the same time. If startup fails, read the first useful error in the log rather than repeatedly downloading different jars. Save the previous file so you can return to a known working setup. After a successful launch, use a backed-up world and a repeatable XP collection task for your initial test.
