How to Compare XP Farm Performance Before and After

Make your farm test repeatable and avoid misleading performance claims.

Published

Choose a repeatable workload

Pick one farm and write down the player position, session duration and collection method. Keep the same world and mod configuration for both runs except for the change being tested. Let the server settle after startup before recording observations.

Record more than a feeling

Note the number of active players and any other farms running nearby. If you already use a profiling tool, save its output for both runs. Separate frame-rate observations on your computer from server responsiveness; they describe different parts of the session.

Repeat and describe the limits

Run the comparison more than once using similar conditions. A single unusually busy session can make a result look larger or smaller than it is. Publish the setup alongside any numbers and avoid promising the same improvement to other players. If results vary, say so and look for differences in player activity, background workloads or how long experience remained uncollected.
